Phansidewa, 28th March: A severe storm on Friday night wreaked havoc across large parts of Phansidewa, particularly in Badalakata, Variakhali, Madhupur, and Mini Dhakpara areas of the Bidhannagar block.
Mini Dhakpara village suffered the most, with tin roofs of over 40 houses blown away, leaving residents in panic. Household items and food supplies were also damaged in the storm.
Farmers cultivating pineapples and maize faced heavy losses as hail accompanied the storm, destroying their crops. Large trees were uprooted and electricity poles were broken, leaving several villages without power.
Affected families are now awaiting government assistance to cope with the widespread damage caused by the storm.
