Siliguri, 26th October: Residents of Raniganj under Panishali Gram Panchayat of Kharibari block are highly infuriated regarding the use of lower-quality materials for road construction as per the Pathashree scheme. In this regard, the locals staged a protest against the construction of a 3 km road connecting Jamatulla Jote to Kungarpur.
According to reports, allegations were raised against the utilization of inferior-quality materials in the construction of the road. On this day, the locals halted the construction work and expressed their dissatisfaction against the contractor. Furthermore, the locals threatened a massive agitation in the upcoming days if the construction work was improperly conducted.
In the meantime, Sabhadhipati of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, Arun Ghosh announced that he has been notified regarding this issue and that the reform work should be executed correctly. He mentioned informing the matter to the agency and declared undertaking strict action if the work is not completed on time.
