Dhupguri, 04th December: Sensation prevailed after the carcass of an adult elephant was recovered from Section 03 of HaldibaTea Garden Manipur Line under Dhupguri block.
The body was initially found on Friday morning, by some tea garden workers while they were fishing. The incident was immediately reported to the Binnaguri Wildlife Squad. Upon receiving the news, Jalpaiguri Honorary Wildlife Warden Sima Chowdhury, Binnaguri Wild Life Squad Range officer Subhashish Roy and Moraghat Range officer Raj Kumar Pal reached the spot.
According to the forest department, the elephant might have been electrocuted to death. Jalpaiguri Honorary Wildlife Warden blamed the tea garden authorities for the incident.
