Rajganj, 09th December: Two houses were severely damaged in an elephant attack in the early hours of Sunday in Rajganj block. The incident occurred around 2:30 AM in Barua Para, a village near the Baikunthapur forest area under the Binnaguri Gram Panchayat.
According to local sources, an elephant rampaged through the homes of Shokal Roy and Pabitra Roy in Barua Para. The damage to Pabitra Roy’s house was relatively minor. Meanwhile, Shokal Roy’s home, which houses a person with special needs, was completely destroyed. The elephant wreaked havoc, scattering belongings and leaving the house severely damaged. Shokal Roy narrowly escaped and managed to flee the house in time.
The affected families have appealed to the Forest Department for urgent assistance and support following the attack. Panicked, locals have called for better measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
