Alipurduar, 02nd January: A forest official lost his life following an elephant attack while attempting to guide a herd of wild elephants back into the forest. The deceased has been identified as Madan Diwan.
Reports indicate that a herd of wild elephants roamed around the Kalchini Tea Garden area in Alipurduar district earlier in the morning. Upon receiving the information, forest workers and officials from various ranges arrived to manage the situation.
During the operation, Madan Dewan was attacked by one of the elephants and tragically succumbed to his injuries. Forest personnel have been stationed at the site to manage the situation and prevent further mishaps.
