Kalchini, 09th June: In a tragic incident, an elderly woman died after being fatally attacked by a wild elephant. The incident took place in the Bharnobaro Tea Garden of the Kalchini block. The deceased woman has been identified as Mangri Kharia (65).
Local sources reported that the woman had ventured out of her home when she was attacked by the wild elephant. Subsequently, the injured woman was rescued and rushed to the Latabari Rural Hospital. However, she was shifted to the Alipurduar District Hospital for her critical condition where the medical professionals declared her dead.
