Elderly woman cheated by daughter and son-in-law, left homeless in Fulbari

Fulbari, 20th March: A shocking incident has emerged from Siliguri-adjacent area of Fulbari, where an elderly woman was financially cheated by her daughter and son-in-law, leaving her homeless. Forced to spend nights in temples and on footpaths, the helpless woman eventually sought police help.

According to Jayanti Bhowmik, her daughter and son-in-law deceived her into selling her land for ₹11 lakh, promising to buy a flat in her name so she could live with them. However, she later discovered that the flat was registered in their name instead. Eventually, they sold the flat and began mistreating her.

She further alleged that when she returned home, they stopped providing her with proper food. On February 20, they allegedly threw her out of the house, leaving her with no shelter. Since then, she had been living in temples and on footpaths until her son took her in. She is now residing at his home in Fulbari.

Following her ordeal, she has filed a written complaint at Pradhan Nagar police station. Meanwhile, attempts to contact the accused daughter over the phone have gone unanswered.
