Alipurduar, 04th November: An elderly man drowned while bathing in the Birkiti River located in Alipurduar. The man has been identified as Raghunath Das (70), a resident of Jateswar.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday when Raghunath went to the river for a swim. During this, he lost balance in the current and drowned in the deep water. Local residents became aware of the situation and promptly alerted the Jateswar police station.
On Monday, a Civil Defence team arrived at the scene and launched a search operation using speedboats. As of the latest updates, Raghunath could not be located.
