Elderly killed in a wild elephant attack in Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 06th June: A tragic incident surfaced from Alipurduar where a 75-year-old man was killed after being attacked by a wild elephants. The deceased identified as Amal Karji, a resident of the Sibnathpur in the Falakata block.


As per reports, on Thursday morning, Amal Karji had ventured out of his home when he encountered a wild tusker. The elephant mauled the old man and pierced him with its tusk, leading him to succumb. Enraged by the incident, the locals voiced their concern against the repeated damage the elephant herd has caused to the residents of the area.

Locals asserted that the elephants regularly emerge out of the forest and invade the locality in search of food. Consequently, the herd causes significant damage to the crops and fatally attack the locals. Meanwhile, upon receiving the information, the forest department and the Falakata police arrived at the scene.
