Bagdogra, 02nd July: In a tragic incident, an elderly man drowned to death after accidentally slipping into a pond situated in the Sukanta Pally area of Bagdogra. The deceased has been identified as Jiten Barman (60).
As per reports, the elderly man had drowned in the waterbody inside the boundary of the army camp. Upon receiving the news, the officers of the Bagdogra police station and the army officials rushed to the scene. During this incident, military authorities and local police got involved in a disagreement over retrieving the body found within army grounds.
Later, the police retrieved the body and transported it to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. At present, the Bagdogra police initiated an investigation into the entire incident.
