Elder brother leaves younger brother at mobile shop and disappears in Siliguri, police launch search

Siliguri, 05th February: In a bizarre incident, an elder brother left his younger brother at a mobile shop and disappeared in Siliguri. The police have launched a search.

According to reports, Amit Kumar from Birpara came to Siliguri with his younger brother Amrit on Tuesday. They visited a mobile shop at Circuit House Masjid More to purchase a mobile phone. They selected two mobile phones worth ₹18,000.

The shopkeeper stated that Amit initially said he would pay by card, but as the shop lacked a card swipe facility, Amit went to an ATM to withdraw cash. However, due to entering the wrong PIN, his ATM card got blocked. Amit then told the shopkeeper that he would arrange cash from an acquaintance and left, leaving his younger brother at the shop.

When Amit failed to return even after 8 hours, the shopkeeper informed Pradhan Nagar police station. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took the minor boy under their protection. Later, the child was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

The younger brother, Amrit, confirmed that Amit Kumar is his elder brother. The police have now started a search for Amit to uncover the reason behind his disappearance and the circumstances of the incident.
