Jalpaiguri, 25th May: Today marks the auspicious occasion of Eid ul-Fitr, which is one of the most significant festivals that is celebrated by the Muslim community around the world. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there shall be no mass namaz at mosques all over India since the government has prohibited all religious gatherings.
Monday began with an unusual celebration of Eid ul-Fitr in Jalpaiguri: unlike in the past, most of them made it a private and a closed-door affair following all the government protocols. Several people wore new garments and were sighted performing namaz at their homes adhering to the social distancing norms. Apart from this, they also greeted each other through social media platforms.
On the other hand, very few people were sighted in Jalpaiguri’s Bajitpara, Boro Chowdhury para, and Nawapara areas today. Police personnel has also been deployed in various areas of the city on behalf of the administration.
