Siliguri, 31st July: Tomorrow marks the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Adha, which is one of the most significant festivals celebrated by the Muslim community around the world.
However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, mass namaz at mosques across the city has been cancelled in view of the government protocol, which prohibits all religious gatherings. A maximum of 25 people will be allowed to perform namaz at the mosques adhering to the social distancing norms.
Police officials have already held a discussion with the mosque committees in this regard. The citizens have been asked to celebrate Eid at home following all the government guidelines and safety measures.
Feroz Ahmed Khan, a member of the Jama Masjid Committee, stated that unlike every year, Namaz will not be performed in Kanchenjunga Stadium this year. People must offer namaz at home. He further stated that there are hardly any customers this festive season due to the pandemic.
