Siliguri, 01st October: Teams of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted simultaneous searches at multiple locations in Siliguri and Bagdogra on Thursday morning.
According to sources, one of the key locations of the operation was Burdwan Road in Siliguri. ED officials reportedly first reached the residence of a person named Sandeep on the third floor of an apartment on Burdwan Road and began a search. Documents, financial transaction records and other important papers were reportedly examined during the operation.
The agency also conducted a search at an office located on the fifth floor of a building on Burdwan Road. Officials reportedly examined various documents and papers found at the office.
An ED team also carried out a search at a transport office near Panitanki More in Siliguri. Another search was conducted at the residence of Dhiraj, a betel nut trader, in Bagdogra. According to sources, the ED team examined documents related to financial transactions and other important papers at his residence.
The reason for the ED searches has not yet been officially disclosed by the agency. There is also no official confirmation regarding the recovery or seizure of cash, documents, electronic devices or any other material during the searches.
The simultaneous searches at multiple locations have sparked discussions in business and political circles in Siliguri and surrounding areas.
