Siliguri, 27th November: Joydeep Modak, a resident of Subhash Pally, lost his life in the tragic accident at Eastern Bypass, on Thursday. He used to work as an agent in an insurance company. That night, the incident occurred when he went to Jaleshwari bazar to collect money from a customer.
Locals said that Modak was standing in front of a fruit shop, during which, a speeding boulder-loaded truck rammed into him, killing him on the spot. He left behind his elderly mother, wife, 12-year old son, elder brother, and sisters. He was the only breadwinner of his family and his wife is battling cancer.
The deceased’s family urged the government to provide them financial assistance in this helpless situation.
