Siliguri, 10th September: The police officers have arrested a friend of the youth who tragically died in a road accident on Sunday while on a motorcycle ride with friends near the Eastern Bypass. The deceased’s friend, identified as Gautam Biswas (33), was arrested based on the family’s complaint.
Incidentally, the deceased, Krishna Das, was boarding a motorcycle with two friends when they attempted to overtake a truck near a dumping ground along the Eastern Bypass. The bike lost control causing Krishna Das to fall and succumb to a head injury. Meanwhile, his two friends fled the scene after the accident.
On Monday, Krishna Das’s family filed a complaint with the Bhakti Nagar Police Station against the two. Based on the complaint, police have arrested one of the friends, Gautam Biswas, from Gajoldoba. At present, the police are still on the hunt for the other friend and the motorcycle involved in the incident. Gautam Biswas has been presented in the Jalpaiguri District Court while the case is under further investigation.
