Siliguri, 23rd December: In recent developments, the Siliguri police station has taken the mastermind Abir Guha of e-rickshaw (toto) theft case on ‘shown arrest’ for four days from the jail in Siliguri for involvement in another toto theft case.
It has to be noted that, on December 19, the cops of Siliguri police station exposed rampant e-rickshaw theft in Siliguri by a gang of thieves active in Siliguri and Maynaguri. In addition, the police arrested the mastermind Abir Guha, and his two associates Prasanjit Roy and Shyamal Roy. Significantly, seven stolen e-rickshaws were also recovered from Maynaguri.
Following this, the cops of Siliguri police station presented all three accused before the Siliguri court. During the hearing, the judge directed for judicial custody of the three accused.
Reportedly, another toto was stolen from the Subhash Pally area on October 7. Following the theft, a complaint was filed at the police station and an investigation was initiated. However, during the investigation in two months, the police did not gain any significant success in the case.
Later, on October 19, the toto theft gang was exposed and police gained vital information regarding the involvement of Abir Guha in the toto theft case of the Subhas Palli area. On Saturday, the police arrested the accused Abir Guha from custody on the court’s instructions in connection with the case for four days. Currently, the police are engaged in a detailed investigation of the case.
