E-rickshaw drivers protest at Rajganj BDO office, submit memorandum with multiple demands

Rajganj, 28th November: Over 500 e-rickshaw drivers from Fatapukur in Rajganj staged a massive protest outside the Rajganj BDO office on Friday, demanding government recognition and social status for e-rickshaw operators. The demonstration was organized with the support of CPM’s labour wing, CITU.

A large police contingent was deployed at the BDO office during the protest. A few representatives of the drivers submitted a memorandum to the office on behalf of the protesting group.

The drivers’ key demands include one-time registration of all vehicles at a maximum fee of ₹300 through the TTEN portal, cancellation of showroom-based registration and registration through the Vahan portal, extension of the registration submission deadline by at least five months, and easy access to subsidized government loans for purchasing new e-rickshaws.
