Naxalbari, 14th November: The Darjeeling District Traffic Police awarded three Durga Puja committees for their exceptional efforts in promoting traffic awareness during the festive season. A prize and a cheque of ₹45,000 were handed over to Darjeeling Chowrasta Durga Puja Committee, Naxalbari Shivaji Sangha, and Kharibari Balaijhora Durga Puja Committee at an event held at the Naxalbari Block Development Office.
The programme was attended by Darjeeling District Traffic DSP Sorep Sherpa Lepcha, Traffic Inspector Purnendu Mukherjee, Naxalbari BDO Pranab Chattaraj, Naxalbari Police Station OC Pulak Roy, and other traffic officers.
Officials stated that, following the Chief Minister’s Safe Drive Save Life initiative, such awards are given every year based on awareness activities aimed at reducing road accidents.
