Durga Puja Carnival 2023: Traffic to remain restricted from Mahatma Gandhi More to Hashmi Chowk in Siliguri

Siliguri, 25th October: Siliguri is set to host the Durga Puja Carnival for the second time in 2023 with preparation in full swing. Notably, in order to prevent ensuing traffic congestion, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police has made significant changes in traffic routes for the particular occasion.


According to reports, starting Thursday afternoon, all vehicular movement from Hashmi Chowk (Venus More) to Mahatma Gandhi More (Air View More) in Siliguri will be prohibited. Significantly, ambulances and other vehicles providing essential services would not be subject to these restrictions. Furthermore, vehicles operating on the Burdwan Road will be rerouted from Jhankar More, in alignment with the current traffic circumstances.

In addition, cars would be rerouted from Gurung Basti and the Mallaguri Flyover Bridge to prevent traffic congestion at Air View More. Meanwhile, smaller vehicles, including small cars bicycles and scooters will be allowed to commute via Gurung Basti to Church Road.


On the other hand, vehicles will be able to run from Darjeeling More to Champasari and Bhakti Nagar Checkpost. Vehicles coming from Bagdogra will be permitted to ply from Matigara, Phansidewa More underpass to Medical More and Naukaghat.
