Siliguri, 06th September: Sensation prevailed after a highly intoxicated man set his house on fire late Saturday night in the Janata Para area adjacent to NJP.
Reportedly, Shyamal Saha often used to come home drunk and misbehave with his family members. In the course of a similar episode yesterday, the furious man allegedly set his own house on fire. The incident was then reported to the fire brigade. However, the house was completely damaged before the arrival of the firefighters.
Upon receiving the news, Ward No. 35 Coordinator Chandrani Mandal arrived at the spot on Sunday morning. Based on the allegations made by the locals, she lodged a complaint against Saha at the police station.
Mandal further maintained that she will initiate the process to send Shyamal Saha to a rehabilitation center soon for his treatment. However, the accused has been absconding since the incident.
