Drug racket busted in Siliguri: Woman arrested with 186 grams of brown sugar

Siliguri, 17th May: In a major crackdown, the white uniform police of Matigara police station arrested a woman for running a drug business from her residence. The accused has been identified as Pooja Swarnkar, a resident of Vishwas Colony.


As per reports, Pooja Swarnkar had allegedly turned her house into a drug den, operating a business of buying and selling brown sugar. She is said to have managed the entire operation herself.

Acting on a tip-off, the white uniform police launched a campaign and apprehended Pooja on Saturday while she was reportedly standing outside her house to sell the contraband. She was caught red-handed by the police.


A total of 186 grams of brown sugar was recovered from her possession, with its market value estimated to be in lakhs of rupees. The accused was produced before the Siliguri court on Saturday, where police sought her remand for further investigation.
