Khariabari, 11th December: An attempted drug handover under the cover of darkness was intercepted by the SSB in Kharibari. A youth who had travelled from Bihar to conduct the exchange was detained.
According to sources, the accused had planned the handover on the Ghoshpukur-Kharibari State Highway near the Dumuria area. Acting on a tip-off, the SSB detained him and conducted a search, recovering 103 grams of brown sugar.
The SSB then handed the youth over to Kharibari Police on charges of drug trafficking. The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Samim, a resident of Kishanganj in Bihar.
He was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Thursday, while Kharibari Police continue their investigation into the incident.
