Siliguri, 11th September: Based on the complaint lodged on behalf of the Central Colony Durga Puja committee concerning anti-social activities being carried out at a playground, the police launched operations and detained three youths.
The Siliguri Central Colony Durga Puja ground is known as one of the most popular sports grounds in the city. However, at present, a temporary temple at the field’s corner has been turned into a drug den by some youths.
Acting promptly, the NJP police lodged a complaint at the NJP police station. On the basis of the complaint, the police detained a drug dealer identified as Pradeep Roy and two customers. Drugs were recovered from their possession.
Drugs and marijuana is sold and consumed illegally in many places of Siliguri like NJP, Pradhannagar, Siliguri Junction, so it is good that police teams have taken action in this case. More efforts should be made to stop such anti social activities in siliguri because it is known fact that most of the robbery, anti social activities and petty crimes are usually done by drug addicts for the sake of a few thousand rupees to buy their drugs.
