Siliguri, 01st April: In a recent drive against unregistered e-rickshaws (totos) at Subhas Pally Netaji More in Siliguri, a toto driver scuffled with traffic police officers.
According to reports, Traffic Police Officer Khokon Roy and other personnel have been stationed at Subhas Pally Netaji More for the past few days. During the drive, the driver of a toto was asked to stop. However, the driver disregarded the request and attempted to drive away.
As the police tried to stop the vehicle by taking the key, a scuffle broke out between the police and the driver. Allegations suggest that the driver verbally abused the police at that moment. It is also reported that two female passengers in the e-rickshaw physically assaulted the traffic police officers.
Eyewitnesses have condemned the incident, calling it completely undesirable.
