Dooars Human Care Society opposes fair on Mahananda Riverbanks

Siliguri, 19th April: The members of Dooars Human Care Society handed over a memorandum to various administrative camps, demanding a pollution-free Mahananda River and opposing the fair to be held on the river banks. They also held a press conference at Siliguri Journalists Club today.

During the conference, the society’s secretary, Bablu Talukdar, stated that there had been discussions about holding a fair on the banks of the Mahananda river for one and a half months. However, with the rainy season approaching, holding a fair in this area could result in an accident like the Malbazar river incident. Therefore, the society demands that the fair be organized somewhere else and not on the banks of Mahananda river.
