District CMOH deputed following dissatisfaction with a nursing home’s role in Siliguri

Siliguri, 26th September: In a recent development, allegations have been made against a nursing home in Siliguri, claiming that an elderly woman was referred and discharged without treatment and without consulting her family due to delays in payment of dues.

The Chairperson of Borough Committee No. 03, Milli Sinha, expressed dissatisfaction with a nursing home’s handling of the situation, located in Siliguri’s College Para, and has deputed District Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Tulsi Pramanik to investigate.

Reports indicate that 72-year-old Dipali Pal was admitted to the nursing home on September 13 with stomach pain and vomiting. Her son, Prosenjit Pal, stated that he initially deposited ₹1 lakh but was later asked to pay additional dues immediately. He informed the nursing home that he would need some time to arrange the additional funds.

The complaint alleges that, as a result of the delay in payment, the elderly woman was left untreated, referred, and discharged suddenly without anyone’s permission.

In response to the situation, Milli Sinha, along with several others, addressed the District CMOH on Thursday. They voiced their anger against the nursing home for various reasons. However, no statement has been received from the nursing home authorities regarding the matter.
