Rajganj, 20th June: The distribution of ‘Mahaprasad’ from the Jagannath Temple in Digha has begun in Rajganj through the state-run ‘Duare Ration’ scheme, fulfilling a promise made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
This special initiative started on Friday in the Sahudangi, Binnaguri Gram Panchayat areas of Rajganj block. As part of the programme, packets containing the sacred ‘Prasad’, which include ‘gaja’ and ‘sandesh’, are being delivered directly to homes by ration dealers. Each packet also contains an image of the Jagannath Temple in Digha.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had inaugurated the newly constructed Jagannath Temple near the Digha sea beach on Akshaya Tritiya last month. At that time, she announced that arrangements would be made to deliver the temple’s ‘Mahaprasad’ to the people of West Bengal so that everyone could receive the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
Following this directive, the distribution in Rajganj is scheduled to continue from 20th to 26th June. Ration dealer Chittaranjan Roy stated that, as per the government’s instructions, each ration dealer has been tasked with distributing the ‘Prasad’ to every household under the Duare Ration project.
