Siliguri, 19th August: Sensation enveloped the Shanti Nagar area adjacent to Siliguri, as reports emerged of an object buried beneath an empty plot of land near Bipul More. The unfolding mystery prompted the local police to maintain vigilance over the location throughout the night, culminating in the revelation upon excavation on Saturday morning.
According to sources, late Friday night, 3 to 4 youths were spotted wandering in the vicinity. The locals grew suspicious and alerted the Ashighar Out Post police. Responding swiftly, the police arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation. Considering the late hour, a decision was made to postpone any digging until the following morning.
As dawn broke, in the presence of the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Rajganj and the police from Ashighar Out Post, excavation commenced. The soil slowly gave way to a surprising revelation – the discovery of a deceased dog’s body buried beneath. The unexpected finding left both the locals and the police baffled.
While the uncovering of the dog’s body might not provide answers immediately, the police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding its burial.
