Naxalbari, 07th August: In a significant initiative by ALIMCO, an organization under the Government of India, and managed by Bidhannagar Social Welfare Society, a Disability Identification Camp was successfully organized in Naxalbari.
The camp, held at the Naxalbari United Club, saw a large turnout from the surrounding areas including Kharibari, Phansidewa, and Matigara of the Siliguri sub-divisions, as well as Jaigaon and Alipurduar. Special needs individuals from these regions participated in the camp, which received support from members of various voluntary organizations, including the Naxalbari Gram Panchayat and United Club.
In addition to identifying individuals with disabilities, the camp also featured an eye examination session. The event aimed to provide comprehensive support to the disabled community, ensuring their needs are recognized and addressed.
Following the identification process, those diagnosed will receive essential aids such as tricycles, wheelchairs, battery-operated wheelchairs, and hearing aids in the period after the upcoming puja. This initiative marks a critical step towards enhancing the mobility and independence of individuals with disabilities in these regions.
