Siliguri, 22nd August: The Pokai Jote locality within Ward No. 46 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has fallen into a state of disrepair. To draw attention to this issue, the Mandal Committee-I of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a protest by symbolically planting paddy saplings as a demand for immediate road restoration.
The BJP voiced their dissatisfaction, citing the lack of action by the Trinamool Congress Councilor responsible for the ward. The road’s deteriorating condition has persisted over an extended period, causing significant inconvenience to pedestrians, including school children and the general public. Particularly during the monsoon season, the road’s deterioration becomes more pronounced, accumulating rainwater and leading to accidents.
