Dhupguri, 26th August: The members of Vyavasayi Kalyan Samiti of Dhupguri Suresh Dey Smriti Market handed over a memorandum to the District Magistrate, on Wednesday, regarding incomplete work of the said market.
As per the allegations, three years have passed by yet the construction work is still pending. Hence, a memorandum was submitted to the DM in this regard.
Sudhangshu Barma, Secretary of the association, stated that the market work was supposed to be completed within 500 days. But even after 900 days, only half of the task has been completed. As a result, around 200 traders are facing difficulties. He further stated that the association seeks for the work to be completed soon and the stalls to be handed over to the merchants.
On the other hand, Jalpaiguri District-in-Council President Uttara stated that she had received a complaint regarding the slow pace of work.
“I inspected the market place, a year ago. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, we had to suspend all works,” Barman stated. She maintained that discussions have been held to resume and complete the project soon.
