Darjeeling MP Raju Bista raises concern after Union Minister Smriti Irani presented statistics of missing children in West Bengal.
“It pains me to see that despite a women CM, the women and children in West Bengal have been most vulnerable under the 10-years of TMC mis-rule,” Bista wrote on his social media page.
It is to be noted, Union Minister Smriti Irani stated that for three continuous years West Bengal has the highest number of missing children in India.
Mentioned below are the figures of the missing report:-
In 2016 – 16,881 children went missing
In 2017 – 19,671 children went missing
In 2018 – 16,027 children went missing
In the latest study by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) West Bengal recorded the highest incidence of children and women being trafficked. Contrastingly in 2017, UNESCO awarded first prize to Bengal for its ‘Kanyashree’ project, the same year it recorded the highest number of missing children.
