Siliguri, 25th October: On Monday evening, BJP MP Raju Bista along with BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh visited former Mayor and CPI (M) leader Ashok Bhattacharya’s residence. Speaking on the visit, MP Raju Bista said there was no political reason. Apparently, he had been invited to attend the death anniversary ceremony of Ratna Bhattacharya, wife of Ashok Bhattacharya who passed away last year, on 30th October. As the MP reportedly has other commitments he will not be attending the ceremony and hence paid a courtesy visit to the Left leader.
Following this, numerous speculations started circulating in the political arena. In regard to this, the MP released a statement on Tuesday. The press release issued by the Office of MP Raju Bista stated:
Under TMC common courtesy and basic decency has become so rare in our state, that TMC operatives are raising questions on my meeting with the former WB State Minister, Siliguri MLA and SMC Mayor Sh Ashok Bhattacharya ji yesterday, whom I had called on to share Diwali greetings. The desperation of TMC in labelling our meeting as a ‘set up for a new arrangement’ in their mouthpiece exhibits the sense of fear and insecurity they must feel. TMC operatives seem to have forgotten that respecting our elders, and seeking their blessings during festival is embedded in the very fabric of our society and culture.
While people across our nation and the world are celebrating Diwali and Kali Puja, many TMC leaders are forced to spend this festive season in jail, and many others are definitely headed that way. Some are in jail due to their involvement in teacher’s recruitment ghotala, some in cattle smuggling cases, some in coal ghotala, some in cases related to rape and murder. The core philosophy and foundational principles of TMC are reflected in the rampant corruption, murder, rape, arson, and spreading terror among common citizens by TMC leaders and cadres.
It is because of this, TMC leaders whose sole purpose seems to be staying in power at all costs and looting of public funds, are fearful of even their own shadows today. Even they know, their regime of corruption and violence is about to come to an end. The house of cards built on looting of public funds, and killing of innocents is set to come crumbling down, which is why they are desperate to paint everything in political colours.
Instead of seeing politics in everything, they should learn to introspect on why no one called on their leaders even during such an auspicious festival.
