Siliguri, 20th September: The current situation in Siliguri witnessing the surge in the spread of dengue has alarmed the people. Day by day the disease is proving fatal by claiming life. On Monday night, a child aged 3 years and 10 months old lost his life battle against the disease and died in the Siliguri District Hospital. The deceased has been identified as Abhinash Saha, a resident of Limbu Basti of Ward No. 41.
Reportedly, the child was suffering from a fever for several days. After running a blood test in a private lab it was learned that the child was infected with dengue. He was getting treated at home. Meanwhile, on Monday, the child’s health deteriorated, and the family members admitted him to the Siliguri District Hospital, where the child’s health improved slightly and he also spoke at night. But the child died suddenly in the early hours today. After which the family brought the child’s body home this morning. It is to be known that even before this, two residents of Ward No. 25 and Ward No. 05 have died of dengue.
Siliguri District Hospital Superintendent Dr Chandan Ghosh said that the child was brought to the hospital in critical condition. Doctors tried their best to save the child, but despite putting all the effort he died this morning. He further informed that at present, a total of 18 dengue-infected patients are admitted to the Siliguri District Hospital, who is undergoing treatment.
