Siliguri, 08th November: In a tragic incident, a youth named Bappa Roy (30), a resident of Siliguri’s Ward No. 23, lost his life due to dengue. Notably, Bappa played cricket significantly well and was involved with Jagrani Sangha for CAB cricket.
As per reports, Bappa was admitted to a nursing home in Khalpara, last Monday, due to a fever and other issues. On Tuesday morning, he was taken to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where he breathed his last. The incident resulted in a situation of mourning in the area. In addition, panic gripped the city as the news surfaced over the death caused by dengue.
In this regard, the family members claimed that Bappa had a fever for a few days, for which, he was admitted to a nursing home located in Khalpara and subsequently to the NBMCH. They added that due to a significant drop in platelet count and a lack of adequate medical care, Bappa lost his life.
Upon receiving the news, Ward Councillor Lakshmi Paul arrived at the residence of the deceased and spoke to the family. The Councillor stated that due to a delay in proper medical care, the youth lost his life. She added that the health department is investigating the matter.
