Rajganj, 20th March: The Ambari-Falakata Nagarik Mancha has submitted a memorandum to the station master demanding stoppage of trains at Ambari railway station. On Friday, the organisation sent an application through the Ambari station authorities addressed to the DRM of the Katihar Division under the Northeast Frontier Railway, raising the issue.
According to reports, the Haldibari–Balurghat and Haldibari–Bamanhat trains were recently introduced by the railway authorities. While the new services have improved connectivity to some extent, the fact that these trains do not stop at Ambari railway station has led to growing dissatisfaction among local residents.
Members of the Nagarik Mancha stated that a large number of students and working individuals from Ambari and surrounding areas commute daily to Siliguri and nearby locations. Due to the absence of train stoppages at Ambari, passengers are forced to travel to nearby stations to board trains, causing inconvenience and loss of time.
They also pointed out that after evening hours, the lack of buses and other transport options in the area creates additional difficulties for commuters. Despite Ambari being an important station, the absence of sufficient train stoppages has led to long-standing grievances among locals.
In this situation, the applicants have urged the authorities to address the issue at the earliest and ensure stoppages of the two trains at Ambari railway station. They have also cautioned that if their demand is not met, they may resort to larger forms of protest in the future.
