Siliguri, 03rd January: The body of a Delhi woman, identified as Phulbati, was found hanging in a rented house at Tiranga More in Siliguri. The Bhakti Nagar police station recovered the woman’s body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem.
As per reports, Phulbati, who had been working in events in Siliguri for the past one and a half years with a youth named Shubhankar, last spoke to her family on the night of December 31. According to her elder sister, Phulbati reported being assaulted by Shubhankar during their last conversation. She mentioned that she could no longer bear his torture before switching off her phone.
Concerned after failing to contact her, the family informed Siliguri Metropolitan Police on January 1. Subsequently, the police found Phulbati’s body hanging in her rented accommodation.
The elder sister has accused the youth of torturing her sister, leading to the tragic incident. She has demanded justice and called for a thorough investigation into the matter.
