Siliguri, 11th January: The cyber team of Delhi police arrested two individuals on charges of fraud worth crores and left for Delhi on transit remand following the Siliguri court orders. The arrested accused have been identified as Ajib Liaqat Khan (36), a resident of Delhi, and Akash Singh Rajput (27), a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
As per details received, a few months ago, an individual had filed a formal complaint in the Noida Cyber police station of Delhi alleging fraud of Rs 2.5 crore on the pretext of life insurance. Upon investigating, the Delhi Cyber cell team arrested seven miscreants, however, two accused were still at large. During the further course of the investigation, the Delhi cyber cell team gained significant information indicating the mobile tower location of both the accused in Siliguri.
Following this, the Delhi cyber cell team arrived in Siliguri on Wednesday. Subsequently, in coordination with Pradhan Nagar police station, five miscreants were apprehended from a hotel in the Children Park area adjacent to Utpal Nagar between Champasari and Devidanga.
Upon interrogating the accused, two of the five apprehended, Ajib Liaqat Khan and Akash Singh Rajput were arrested. On Thursday, the accused were produced before the Siliguri Court. Following the court orders, the team of the Delhi cyber cell took both the accused on transit remand and left for Delhi.
