Siliguri, 10th January: The Delhi Police have arrived in Siliguri to expose a case of fraud worth crores under the guise of a call center. The Delhi Police cyber squad, with the assistance of the Pradhan Nagar police station of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police, detained a total of five people inside a hotel.
According to sources, roughly 5 months ago, a person reported a cyber fraud case of Rs 2.5 crore, on the pretext of life insurance, to the Delhi Cyber Cell. Following an investigation, the Delhi Cyber Cell team apprehended seven members of the cyber gang. However, several members of the gang were out of reach of the authorities.
During the inquiry, the Delhi Cyber Team traced the location of two members of the gang indicating Siliguri mobile tower. Subsequently, on Wednesday, a team of the Delhi Cyber Cell arrived in Siliguri and launched an operation in collaboration with the Pradhan Nagar police station in a hotel in the Utpal Nagar area towards Devidanga in Champasari and arrested five including two members of the gang. At present, the five arrested accused are being interrogated by the Delhi Cyber Team.
