Siliguri, 28th July: In a significant development, the Delhi Police, with the support of Siliguri Metropolitan Police, apprehended an individual accused of embezzling Rs 31 lakh from a pharmaceutical company. The arrested individual is identified as Khokhan Chakraborty.
As per the information, in 2013, a Delhi-based pharmaceutical company hired Khokhan Chakraborty as a Medical Representative (MR), and later he was promoted to the position of sales manager. Allegedly, during his tenure, Khokhan obtained medicines worth Rs 84 lakh from the company. However, he only returned approximately Rs 53 lakh to the company, delaying the payment of the remaining dues.
Upon suspicion, the pharmaceutical company initiated an investigation, which revealed that Khokhan had taken medicines worth Rs 84 lakh from a medicine shop in Assam. He deposited the entire amount in his personal bank account, but he returned only Rs 53 lakh to the company, failing to pay the outstanding balance despite several notices.
Subsequently, the company filed a complaint against Khokhan at Delhi’s Kirti Nagar police station. As part of the investigation, the Delhi Police travelled to Siliguri, where they located and arrested Khokhan from the Milan Pally area, with the cooperation of the Siliguri police station. The accused, Khokhan Chakraborty, was presented before the Siliguri court today. Following the court proceedings, the Delhi Police obtained transit remand for Khokhan and escorted him back to Delhi for further legal proceedings in the case.
