Siliguri, 03rd December The Matigara police have arrested a school teacher from Uttar Pradesh along with his associate for allegedly issuing a death threat over the phone to a sub-inspector of the Special Operations Group under the Siliguri Metropolitan Police. The arrested accused have been identified as Madan Mohan Singh (40) and Hemant Kumar (60).
According to police sources, the SOG sub-inspector received a threatening phone call in August this year. The caller used abusive language and issued a death threat. Following a complaint, Matigara police launched an investigation and tracked the mobile number, which was found to be registered in the name of a resident of Mau district in Uttar Pradesh.
A special police team had visited Uttar Pradesh in August, but the accused was absconding at that time, however, he later surrendered.
Madan Mohan Singh was arrested by Matigara police on Tuesday. Police confirmed that he is a school teacher by profession.
During interrogation, Singh stated that he had issued the threat on the instruction of Hemant Kumar. Based on this disclosure, police arrested Hemant Kumar from the Kadamtala Chiriya More area under Matigara police station limits.
Both the accused were produced before the Siliguri court on Wednesday, and police sought their remand for further investigation. The matter is currently under probe.
