Rajganj, 15th November: Sensation prevailed in the area after the body of a woman with her throat slit was found inside the toilet of a house. The horrifying incident surfaced from Chaturagach Khatal Basti under Fulbari No. 2 Gram Panchayat of Rajganj. The deceased has been identified as Riya Biswas (28).
According to local sources, the woman used to live with her husband Ameo Biswas and their five-year-old son in the said village. Ameo works as a carpenter. Apparently, his brother had come home after Kali Puja and the two brothers left for Nadia, last Sunday to get their mother. The neighbours rushed to the house this morning after hearing the cries of Riya’s child. As they could not find Riya in the house, they searched for her and eventually found her blood-soaked body inside the toilet of the house. Later the incident was informed to the police.
Upon receiving the news, New Jalpaiguri Police ACP East Subhendra Kumar and Gram Panchayat Pradhan Dilip Roy reached the spot. Police recovered the body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. The police have started an investigation into the entire matter.
Meanwhile, in this regard, Gram Panchayat Pradhan Dilip Roy coined the incident as a very unfortunate event. He added that the police are investigating the case thoroughly and assured that the real reason for Riya’s death will definitely come to the fore.
