Siliguri, 07th December: In a daylight burglary case reported from the PNT Street area of Milanpally under Siliguri police station limits, the police have arrested one accused. The arrest was made after identifying the suspect with the help of CCTV footage installed in the locality.
Based on confidential inputs, the police conducted a late-night operation and apprehended the accused. He has been identified as Prakash Deb, a resident of the Milanpally area under Ward No. 25 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. During the arrest, police recovered some of the stolen gold jewellery from his possession.
During interrogation, Prakash Deb confessed that he had committed the theft with the help of an accomplice.
On Sunday, the police produced the accused before the Siliguri court and sought his remand for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the police are continuing efforts to recover the remaining stolen gold jewellery and have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding accomplice.
