Darjeeling, 28th August: Bimla Chettri (56), a resident of Bina Bhawan Pound Road in Darjeeling, was diagnosed with blood cancer (diffuse large B-cell with lymphoma) at the Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. At present, she is in her 4th stage of battling the disease.
On her journey to battle cancer, Bimla initially faced several hardships during the chemotherapy. Her path to treat the disease was paved with several complications, including febrile neutropenia, breathing difficulties, and even an unanticipated stomach infection that resulted in internal bleeding. As a result of the series of struggles, she is currently undergoing intensive medical care in the ICU.
In an effort to financially assist the treatment, her friends and relatives had jointly arranged a total amount of Rs. 19 lakh. However, the total sum of medical expenses amounted to a challenging budget of Rs. 21,08,000, with an outstanding amount of Rs 6.8 lakh and an additional estimated expenditure of Rs. 15 lakh. Distressed, Komal Lama, the daughter of Bimla Chettri, made her desperate appeal to the public to contribute to her help finance her mother’s treatment. As a humble request, Komal expressed how even the smallest of contributions would provide them a glimmer of hope.
