Darjeeling, 15th April: The police today picked up a man for spreading fake COVID-19 information on social media. The viral video allegedly stated that a bus carrying foreigners had come to Darjeeling when in fact, following MHA directives, the foreigners were stranded tourists who were being evacuated from Darjeeling to be sent to their respective countries.
The police said that a case has been commenced against the person under the Disaster Management Act and IT Act; according to which if the person is found guilty, he will be sentenced to one to three years of imprisonment.
