Siliguri, 26th July: Keeping in mind the third wave of the pandemic, Darjeeling DM S Ponnambalam held a meeting with the market committees of Siliguri and Matigara blocks in the presence of the police administration at Siliguri Circuit House, today.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding shutting down bazaars once a week and several other instructions were given. The DM directed the SMC commissioner to make immediate arrangements for vaccination of traders and instructed the police to keep a close watch on the markets on the day when they will remain closed.
DM S Ponnambalam said that various issues were discussed in the meeting. Market committees have been asked to abide by the COVID measures. The district administration is on high alert keeping in view the third wave of coronavirus. It is being ensured that people coming from outside are fully vaccinated and have a negative RTPCR test report.
Parimal Mitra, president of the Greater Khuchra Vyavasayi Committee, said that the traders have been informed about being vaccinated. The DM assured that arrangements will be made for the traders to be vaccinated soon.
On the other hand, Biplab Roy Mohri, secretary of the Greater Khuchra Vyavasayi Committee, said that the problems of the traders have been reported to the DM. Problems concerning vaccination have also been reported.
