Siliguri, 15th September: The Darjeeling District Left Front launched a campaign in support of a 14-point demand including the immediate election of the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Council.
The rally was organized under the leadership of Left Leader Ashok Bhattacharya and CPIM District Secretary Jibesh Sarkar. The rally commenced from Anil Biswas Bhawan and concluded at the Sub-Divisional Council.
A huge police force was deployed in the subdivisional council premises to prevent any untoward incident. Police stopped the rally before it could enter. They started protesting in front of the entrance.
Later, a five-member representative team handed over a 14-point memorandum to the sub-divisional council officials.
