Siliguri, 09th August: The Indian National Congress (INC) of the Darjeeling District organized a sit-in protest in front of the Congress party office located at Hashmi Chowk (Venus More) in Siliguri. The protest was aimed at expressing discontent with both the central and state ruling parties for allegedly undermining the constitution and jeopardizing the country’s well-being. In response to this demonstration, the Darjeeling District Congress party declared the day as “Samvidhan Bachao Diwas” (Save Constitution Day).
During the protest, Congress Party leaders and workers criticized both governments, asserting that the foundations of democracy are under threat, leading to the degradation of the nation’s status. The demonstration, which occurred on Wednesday, saw the active participation of District Congress President Shankar Malakar.
Addressing the gathering, Malakar emphasized that both the state and central governments bear responsibility for undermining the democratic principles of the country, contributing to its deteriorating state.
