Siliguri, 24th June: Members of the Darjeeling District Chhatra Parishad staged a protest in Siliguri, alleging corruption and irregularities in the National Eligibility Test (NET) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The protest took place at Hasmi Chowk (Venus More) on Monday, where demonstrators burned effigies of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and demanded his resignation. The protesters accused the education system of corruption, claiming that certificates for exams like NEET are being sold for money, thereby jeopardizing the future of students.
District leader Shahnawaz Hussain emphasized that their protest was aimed at highlighting and opposing the alleged corruption affecting these crucial examinations.
